Department of Materials Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering, Shinshu Univ.

2026

March 22, 2025

Congratulations on graduating from B4 or completing your M2! Thank you for your support over the past year or three years.

I'll be watching over you from Nagano as you spread your wings and soar into society! Please feel free to come visit anytime.

I'm grateful to the M2 students for supporting the lab. It was a truly enjoyable time in the lab!

2026. End of March

We redecorated the student rooms.

Along with moving to a new room, the desk and chair were also replaced.

We're creating a comfortable environment based on student ideas!

2026

March 17-19, 2026

At the 93rd Annual Meeting of the Electrochemical Society held at Tokyo University of Science, D4 student Ohinata gave an oral presentation and Associate Professor Shimizu gave a special lecture.

• S10_1_02 (Special Lecture): Development of Water- and Non-Aqueous Proton Secondary Batteries

• S14_1_02: Analysis of the process of electroplating Cu onto an insulator via a WO3 conductive layer.

2026

March 4-6, 2026

At the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Ceramic Society of Japan held at Yokohama National University, B4 student Okazawa presented a poster. In the evening, we enjoyed Chinese food!

1P152: Electrochemical insertion-desorption behavior of fluoride ions into the interlayers of layered double hydroxides.

2025

2025.12.20

At the Functional Inorganic Materials Symposium held at Suwa Tokyo University of Science, M2 student Sato and B4 student Okazawa presented posters. They also enjoyed some delicious food!

2025

2025. 11.8-9

At the 56th Chubu Chemical Societies Joint Autumn Meeting held at Gifu University, M2 students Sato and Inoshita gave oral presentations.

・1G07: Electrochemical insertion-desorption behavior of carbonate ions into interlayers of layered double hydroxide layers

・2H2O: Investigation of electrolytic polishing for the purpose of removing passive film from Mg metal surfaces

It was a long journey even though it was to a neighboring prefecture... but it was fun!

M2 student Sato-kun received the BCSJ Award (Outstanding Presentation Award) !

2025

October 11-16, 2025

D4 student Ms. Ohinata and Associate Professor Shimizu participated in the 248th ECS Meeting held in Chicago and gave presentations. They also enjoyed some American-style food. Despite having other appointments and deadlines before and after, they managed to finish everything successfully!

・E04-1352:Cu Electroplating on Insulators with WO3 Film as Conductive Layer

・A-3609:Charge−Discharge Reactions Based on Insertion/Deinsertion of CO32− into/from LDH Interlayers

September 26, 2025

B4 students Kamibayashi and Ozaki have graduated. We wish them success in their new endeavors!

Yamada-kun, who had been working here on a temporary assignment for the past six months, has been promoted to the next grade.

Starting in October, you'll be in a different research lab, but please do your best!

2025

September 17-18, 2025

At the 38th Autumn Symposium of the Ceramic Society of Japan, held at Gunma University, M2 student Sato gave both an oral and a poster presentation.

• 2D23: Electrochemical properties of layered double hydroxides as cathode materials for fluoride-ion batteries ( Best Presentation Award )

• 2PS03pm: Effect of constituent elements on the electrochemical insertion-desorption of CO32− into interlayered double hydroxide layers ( Excellent Poster Award )

M2 student Sato- kun achieved two awards in a specific session!

I received the Best Presentation Award in "Fundamentals and Applications of Ceramic Materials for Energy Conversion, Storage, and Transport" and the Excellent Poster Award in "Materials Science of Inorganic Compounds Based on Elemental and Structural Diversity." Although the sessions were different, this is my second consecutive year receiving awards at the Ceramic Society of Japan Autumn Symposium! Congratulations! Did the eel rice bowl I ate the day before do the trick?

September 9-10, 2025

At the 152nd Annual Meeting of the Surface Technology Association held at Fukuoka Institute of Technology, M2 students Okegawa, Maruyama, and Kono, and M1 students Saito and Mori gave oral presentations. *The photo shows what Shimizu ate.

・09A-04: Nodule generation mechanism of low-phosphorus electroless Ni-P alloy plating films

09A-27: Effect of silane coupling treatment on the adhesion between alumina substrate and electroless copper plating film.

・09A-28: Surface morphology control of PTFE substrates by plasma treatment and its effect on the adhesion of electroless Cu plating films.

10A-09: Electrochemical creation of copper/diamond composite materials using diamonds of different particle sizes

・10D-09: Preparation of Ag-Bi alloy plating film from an acidic bath

・10A-10: Influence of the base copper material on the initial deposition morphology of low-temperature sintered copper plating films
